Gaya Benita Aliyah from Iraq Gaya's inspiration for this exhibit is her family's Aliyah story from Iraq following the "Farhud"- pogroms against the Jews of Iraq in 1941. Her family had shops in Iraq and Israel. The shops in Iraq were destroyed during the riots, referred to as "The Kristallnacht of the Iraqi Jews" by the Jews in Iraq. Gaya sees her work as a representation of the fate of the Jews, parallel to the history of the Jews in the Holocaust.
