Exhibition catalogue: The exhibition “Jews in Arab Lands Today” is a photographic record from the personal view of photographers, portraying the unique identity of each Jewish community with its individual cultural and socio-economic features. One of the themes of this book is to observe reality through different human dimensions: the individual, the individual’s environment, and the individual’s contact with that environment. A second theme portrays Jewish sites, such as synagogues constructed in a variety of architectural and decorative styles, often drawing inspוration from Islamic motifs. The duality of these themes creates a dialogue between past and present, between history and history in the making, illuminating the similarities, the differences, and how history has shaped everything around us.
