Aluminum designed Hanukah menorah, shaped like a carob pod
It is said that Rabbi Simeon Bar Yochai and his son, Elazar, hid from the Romans in a small cave near the city of Peki’in for twelve years, surviving only on carob fruit from a nearby tree. The Israeli carob tree (ceratonia silique) appears frequently in the Mishnah and the Talmud as a symbol of modesty, moderation, durability and longevity. This aluminum Hanukah menorah by Israeli artist Anat Basanta was inspired by the Israeli carob fruit, with its distinctive seeds represented by the burning candles.
