The Core Exhibition (opened May 1978  – closed October 2017) used murals, reconstructions, dioramas, audio-visual displays, documentary films and interactive multi-media presentations to convey the panorama of the Jewish people.

The exhibition was divided into six thematic sections: FAMILY, COMMUNITY, FAITH, CULTURE, AMONG THE NATIONS, and RETURN.

In the center of the old core exhibition, a MEMORIAL COLUMN was displayed, in memory of Jewish victims throughout history.
