Online Quest: “In the Footsteps of Russian-Speaking Jews”

You are starting a unique online journey (you do not need to be in the museum in order to do the quest) through the exhibition on the history of Russian-speaking Jews at the ANU museum. On this journey, you will be joined by Xenia Sova (www.instagram.com/xeniasova), a popular Russian-speaking Israeli blogger and artist; you can also see her works at the museum.

You will solve mind-teasers and tasks of varying degrees of difficulty, learn about new amazing facts, meet interesting characters and become really knowledgeable about the history of Russian-speaking Jews.

This is an online quest. If you have a stable Internet connection, you can play whenever you want from anywhere and do not have to be in the museum. To play you will need any mobile device or computer with Telegram installed (you can download Telegram or use the web version).

Actions:

1. Check that you have Telegram (in order for it to work properly, we recommend that you update it to the latest version). If you don’t, download it from Apple Store, Google Play or Microsoft Store.

Start the Quest

1. After you complete a short form and press Send, you will receive a link to the Telegram quest to your e-mail. Once you log into the quest.
2. Click Start
3. Follow the bot’s instructions

• Play through the Telegram bot, which you will use to receive all the tasks and information.
• As you play, you will be receiving videos, each one of which you need to watch carefully before you proceed with the tasks.
• Use the input field to enter the answers to the tasks.

• Pay attention to the way the question is worded and write the answer as clearly as you can. Enter all the answers in English, unless stated otherwise in the question. Watch your spelling and try to avoid making typos.
• At any time during the game, you can use the Telegram bot’s menu in order to ask for a prompt, skip a task or ask for technical support.

• After you enter the correct answer, remember to click Next. At the end of the game, do not forget to click Finish the Game.

• If you cannot see the menu with buttons, don’t worry. Press the virtual keyboard button at the end of the input line, and the menu will appear again.

To help the protagonist solve a specific problem and to go through all the stages of the quest from beginning to end, while also learning about a lot of interesting things. If you are especially competitive, you can play the blitz game. A timer is built into the game. You can check at any time how long you have been playing for (the Timer button in the main menu). You will see the final result after you have passed all the tasks.

On the average, it will take you one hour 15 minutes to two hours to pass the game (including watching all the videos).

If your aim is not passing the game as quickly as possible, you can stop and return to the game whenever convenient. You do not need to do anything specific for this purpose.

You can skip any task or ask for a prompt if a task is difficult, but please note that you will be fined some time for that.

The puzzles are intended for players who are 14 years old or older. No specialist knowledge is needed to play successfully.

• to organise all kinds of educational events dedicated to Russian-speaking Jews or any of the periods of its history
• to learn about the history of Russian-speaking Jews independently and interactively
